5,000 schools are celebrating Europe with Spring Day!
On 26 April, School No. 13 Mircea cel Batran in Pitesti, Romania, became the 5,000th school centre to join this year’s edition of Spring Day for Europe.
Mirela Oanea, a teacher at Mircea cel Batran, tells us that she is confident that participating in Spring Day for Europe 2010 will provide a new opportunity to raise students’ awareness of EU Citizenship. “By joining Spring Day, we would also like to spread the word and share best practices about the European projects that we are currently running,” she adds.
Spring Day has launched a rich programme of interactive activities and competitions : pupils of all ages can learn more about European history and values, countries and cultures, and animals and plants. Pupils and teachers are invited to use ICT tools to submit their entries and share their innovative ideas with the whole Spring Day community. They can win wonderful prizes related to the competitions’ themes.
Spring Day also encourages schools to host an event such as a school visit by a special guest or a special activity designed to encourage discussions on Europe. Teachers can contact the Spring Day team for help setting up a visit or they can find a guest using the Back to School tool.
